One main memorable part that i thought was interesting in this weeks reading was the part when Bilbo bad taken the Arkenstone, an incomparable gem that Thorin seeks but which he decides to keep for himself. this was strange to me because i cant see any need that he could have for it.
Open ended question: Why do you think that Bilbo decided to take the one thing that Thorin could have wanted even more than the treasure that they had been seeking ?
Bilbo was unaware that Thorin was seeking to find the Arkenstone, and probably kept it for himself because it was the most impressive jewel in the entire pile of treasures. Thorin mentioned his searching for the stone to nobody while Bilbo slipped it into his pocket.
ReplyDeleteEvan though Thorin didn't shout dibs to everyone it was greedy of Bilbo to find the coolest thing and keep it for himself.
