Week 6 Literary Luminary
The war between the goblins, elves, men, dwarves, wargs, and eagles was a good way to show the effect of Bilbo's group on history. I thought this passage was interesting because not only did Bilbo's group fight (except for Bilbo), old friends that the party had made along the way fought also. Beorn was probably the most noticeable one during the fight, of course.
1.) What do you think Bilbo's group also influenced during their journey? How did this change things?
2.) After the war, Thorin sadly passed away from wounds (along with Fili and Kili). How did Bilbo's reaction show how close the group had become? What about the conversation between Bilbo and Thorin?

week 5. literary luminary.
I thought that it was creepy when the great spider was trying to sneak an attack on bilbo. With its strong sticky string that the great spider put against bilbos left hand and made sure he couldn't move by wrapping him in the same stuff.
1. Why was the blade of bilbos sword stained black when he stabbed the great spider?

week 5 lit. luminary
One main memorable part that i thought was interesting in this weeks reading was the part when Bilbo bad taken the Arkenstone, an incomparable gem that Thorin seeks but which he decides to keep for himself. this was strange to me because i cant see any need that he could have for it.
Open ended question: Why do you think that Bilbo decided to take the one thing that Thorin could have wanted even more than the treasure that they had been seeking ?
