What page(s) is this question from? You need to post the pages so we can go back and check! The book doesn't say anything about Bilbo rubbing his pipe, but from the reading it looks like Gandalf was just traveling past Bilbo's hobbit hole...?
Your classmates made some good points- be sure we can tell where the passage is you are referring to. Also, try to ask questions that require them to offer opinions or explain something, instead of just answering with something right out of the book.
